James Palmer, CMT — Mobile Massage Therapist in Los Angeles

Hi, I'm James Palmer — a licensed massage therapist serving Los Angeles for nearly a decade, and the person behind The Massage Guy.

I graduated first in my class from the National Holistic Institute in Studio City, spent four years at Equinox in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood — where I became the top-requested therapist at the Beverly Hills location — and have been running my own mobile massage practice ever since.

I work solo. When you book with me, you get me — not whoever happens to be available that day. I bring my table, sheets, oil, and music directly to your home, and I do a full intake before every first session so we're on the same page about what your body actually needs.

My approach isn't menu-based. I don't decide what kind of massage you're getting before I walk in the door. I draw from deep tissue, sports massage, myofascial release, and dynamic cupping — whatever combination makes sense for your body that day. The goal is always the same: real results, not just an hour of feeling good.

I especially love working on the difficult stuff — frozen shoulder, limited range of motion, chronic tension patterns that haven't responded to anything else. That's where the work gets interesting.

I'm based in Encino and serve clients across Los Angeles, from Santa Monica and Malibu on the west side to Studio City, Calabasas, and throughout the Valley. When I'm not working, you'll find me walking around Lake Balboa with my dog or catching live theater somewhere in the city.

This July marks ten years in practice. Still the best job I've ever had.
