Dynamic Cupping
in Los Angeles
At Your Front Door.

Most massage techniques compress tissue downward. Dynamic cupping pulls it upward — lifting fascial layers apart, dramatically increasing circulation, and reaching restrictions that hands alone simply cannot access. I come to you. No commute, no spa, no waiting room.

The Technique

What Dynamic Cupping
Actually Does

Every other massage technique works by compressing tissue downward — pressing into the muscle to create change. Dynamic cupping does the opposite. It uses suction to lift tissue upward, creating negative pressure that pulls fascial layers apart and dramatically increases circulation in areas that hands alone cannot effectively reach.

The "dynamic" part is what makes it different from static cupping. Instead of leaving cups in one place, I move them continuously across the tissue — gliding them along muscle groups to address broader areas of restriction, increase lymphatic drainage, and break down adhesions that have built up in deeper tissue layers.

The result is a rapid increase in blood flow to the treated area, a loosening of fascial restrictions that compression-based techniques can't replicate, and a distinctly different sensation — most clients describe it as surprisingly relaxing despite how aggressively it works.

"Dynamic cupping reaches places my hands can't. There are restrictions that respond to decompression — pulling the tissue up — that simply don't respond to pressing down. It's a completely different tool and produces completely different results."

— James Palmer, CMT · CA Cert #73025
What It Addresses
  • Deep Fascial Restrictions

Adhesions that live in the deeper layers of connective tissue — beyond what hands can effectively compress into — respond dramatically to the negative pressure of dynamic cupping.

  • Poor Circulation & Stagnant Tissue

Areas that feel chronically cold, heavy, or congested have restricted blood flow. Dynamic cupping dramatically increases circulation in these areas — visibly and immediately.

  • Post-Training Recovery

Dynamic cupping accelerates the clearance of metabolic waste products from overworked muscle tissue and speeds the delivery of fresh oxygenated blood — dramatically reducing recovery time after hard training.

  • Upper Back & Shoulder Tension

The upper trapezius and rhomboid region — where most people carry their stress — responds exceptionally well to dynamic cupping. The lifting action releases layers of tension that accumulate from desk work and stress.

  • Scar Tissue & Adhesions

Post-surgical or post-injury scar tissue that limits movement responds well to the decompressive action of cupping — lifting and separating tissue layers that have adhered together during the healing process.

Who This Is For

Does Any of This Sound Familiar?

Dynamic cupping reaches places hands can't. If regular massage helps but doesn't fully resolve your tension, cupping may be the missing piece.

01

Your Upper Back Carries Everything

That dense, concrete-feeling tension between your shoulder blades that never fully releases — no matter how much you get massaged, foam rolled, or stretched. That's layered fascial restriction, and dynamic cupping's lifting action reaches it in ways compression simply can't.

02

Regular Massage Helps But Doesn't Last

You feel great walking out. By the next day the tension is back. If compression-based work isn't holding, the restriction lives in the connective tissue layer — and that responds to decompression, not more compression.

03

You Recover Slowly After Hard Training

Muscle soreness that lingers longer than it should, tissue that feels congested and heavy after training. Dynamic cupping dramatically accelerates circulation in overworked areas — clearing metabolic waste and delivering fresh blood faster than any other technique.

04

You Have Old Scar Tissue Limiting Movement

Post-surgical or post-injury adhesions that restrict how freely you move. The decompressive action of cupping lifts and separates tissue layers that have adhered together — something that pressing into scar tissue cannot achieve.

05

You're Curious But Haven't Tried It

You've seen the circular marks on athletes. You've wondered what it actually does. Dynamic cupping is different from static cupping — the cups move continuously rather than sitting in place, producing a dramatically different sensation and result.

06

You Want the Most Out of Your Session

Dynamic cupping isn't a standalone treatment — it's a tool I combine with deep tissue, myofascial release, and trigger point work mid-session. Adding cupping to your session reaches areas that hands alone miss, making the overall work more comprehensive and longer-lasting.

Dynamic cupping will leave temporary circular marks on the skin that fade within a few days — this is normal and indicates increased blood flow to the area, not bruising. If you have a skin condition, blood clotting disorder, or are on blood thinners, check with your doctor first.

The James Palmer Approach

Cupping Is One Tool.
Your Session Uses All of Them.

I don't run a cupping script. Every session starts with a conversation — what's tight, what hasn't responded to other work, what your body is asking for. Then I build the session around that.

Dynamic cupping is a tool I reach for when I find restrictions that aren't responding to compression — when the tissue needs to be lifted and separated rather than pressed into. I combine it mid-session with deep tissue work to address the underlying muscle, myofascial release for the connective tissue layer, and trigger point therapy to address specific pain referral patterns.

The marks cupping leaves — those circular discolorations — are not bruises. They're the result of increased blood flow to the area and typically fade within 2-5 days. They're also a useful diagnostic tool — darker marks indicate areas of greater stagnation and restriction.

"Cupping gives me access to a completely different layer of the body. Some restrictions only release when you pull the tissue up — you can't get there by pressing down."

01
We talk first

Where is the tension, how long has it been there, what have you already tried. I need to understand your tissue before I decide which tools to use.

02
Dynamic — not static

I move the cups continuously rather than leaving them in place. This covers broader areas, addresses more tissue layers, and produces a fundamentally different result from traditional static cupping.

03
Combined mid-session

Cupping is integrated into your session alongside deep tissue, myofascial release, and trigger point work — not offered as a separate add-on. One price, full toolkit.

04
The marks are normal

Circular discolorations from cupping typically fade in 2-5 days. They indicate increased circulation and release — not injury. I'll let you know what to expect before we start.

05
I come to you

Mobile throughout Beverly Hills and Westside LA. Table, linens, music, oil, and cups included. All I need is a quiet room and 10×8 feet of space.

Common Questions

What People Ask Before
Booking Dynamic Cupping

Will cupping leave marks on my skin?
Yes — dynamic cupping typically leaves circular discolorations that range from light pink to deep red depending on the degree of restriction in the area. These are not bruises. They result from increased blood flow to the surface and indicate areas of stagnation and restriction being addressed. They typically fade completely within 2-5 days. I'll let you know what to expect before we start and adjust the intensity based on your preference and upcoming plans.
What does dynamic cupping feel like?
Most clients are surprised by how relaxing it feels. The suction creates a pulling sensation that's unusual but not painful — most describe it as the opposite of deep tissue pressure, which is exactly what it is. Dynamic cupping moves continuously across the tissue rather than sitting in one spot, which creates a warm, circulation-boosting sensation. Areas with significant restriction may feel more intense, but it should never feel painful.
How is dynamic cupping different from traditional cupping?
Traditional cupping places cups in fixed positions and leaves them for several minutes. Dynamic cupping keeps the cups moving continuously across the tissue. The difference in result is significant — dynamic cupping covers broader areas, addresses more tissue layers, and produces effects closer to deep tissue massage than static cupping does. It's a more active, integrated technique that I use as part of a full therapeutic session rather than as a standalone treatment.
Is cupping safe? Are there any contraindications?
Dynamic cupping is safe for most people. You should avoid cupping if you have a blood clotting disorder, are on blood thinners, have active skin conditions or infections in the treatment area, or are pregnant. If you've had recent surgery, check with your doctor first. I review your health history before every session and will let you know if cupping is appropriate for your specific situation. When in doubt, we simply work without it.
Do you offer cupping as a standalone session or only combined?
I integrate cupping into full therapeutic sessions rather than offering it as a standalone treatment — and that's intentional. Cupping is most effective when combined with deep tissue and myofascial work that addresses the tissue at multiple levels. Using it in isolation misses the synergistic effect of combining decompression with compression-based techniques. All modalities — including cupping — are included in the same session price with no upcharges.
